The Equinox also features Automatic Stop/Start technology. This is activated when the vehicle comes to a complete stop, typically at long lights or in heavy traffic, and while the brake pedal is pushed down, the engine shuts itself off. When it is time to join back up with the flow of traffic, releasing the pedal restarts the engine and you’re off. This helps you to conserve fuel on an ongoing basis, making a gallon go further.

There’s also an Automatic Stop/Start disable switch that comes standard as there are times when you might prefer to have the engine constantly running, like during winter months, for example.

Also coming standard is StabiliTrak, an electronic stability control system with traction control. It works by adjusting your brakes and engine torque to help you stay on your intended path when sensors notice a difference between your intended path and the direction the vehicle is traveling. Traction control detects wheel slippage and applies brake pressure to help maintain control over wet or snow-covered roads.
