A Solid Foundation
Chevy knows that having a strong base to build upon is vital for success. That’s why they developed the Ultium Platform. This powers most of their all-electric lineup, which means they’ve got a lot of faith in the technology, as you should too. Some of the basic features include three available drive systems starting with front-wheel, all-wheel, and rear-wheel drive, which gives you the opportunity to enjoy the driving experience of your choice.
To get a little more into the details of the Ultium Platform, it’s unlike other battery systems. You can tell this at first sight as it is built up of pouch cells that are modular and easily switched out. They’re incredibly strong as one large-format cell can produce 100 amp-hours. Furthermore, the Ultium Platform manifests this level of strength as being able to electronically and physically support EV of all body styles.
Charging technology has come a long way since the first EV models rolled out and Chevy is at the forefront. Home charging is a great way of keeping your EV ready to move. Home installation is a simple process that can be covered by Chevy itself. Depending on your connection, there are multiple levels of chargers, like Level 1 or Level 2, each offering stronger currents. Many customers prefer home charging as they can plug in their EV at night and have it fully charged for when they wake up in the morning.
Public charging stations are another invaluable means of powering your EV. With over 110,000 publicly available charging stations in the U.S. and Canada, you won’t have to worry about running out of juice. The myChevrolet mobile app with Energy Assist can do the heavy lifting of planning a route for your next trip that takes you past charging stations to keep you driving.
There are two kinds of public charging stations, Level 2 and DC Fast Charging. Level 2 stations are located in common areas like near stores, restaurants, parking garages, and hotels. They’re able to give you a charge to keep you driving until you get home or to your next destination. DC Fast Charging stations, however, are much more powerful. As examples, they can add up to 100 miles for a Bolt EV or 95 miles for a Bolt EUV in 30 minutes.
