Chevy Equinox vs Nissan Rogue: Engine Power and Towing

Engine Power and Towing

SUVs are known for their versatility, and for the Chevy Equinox and Nissan Rogue, it all starts with the engine. Drivers will find a 2.5L Direct Injection Gasoline™ (DIG) 4-cylinder engine under the hood of the Nissan Rogue. This powertrain gives you up to 181 horsepower and 181 lb-ft of torque. It can tow up to 1,350 pounds when properly configured.

The Chevy Equinox starts with a similarly powered 1.5L turbo 4-cylinder engine. This engine provides up to 170 horsepower and 203 lb-ft of torque, giving you a max towing capacity of 1,500 pounds when properly configured. The base engine in the Equinox provides more utility than the Nissan Rogue.

Additionally, the 6-speed automatic transmission of the Equinox offers a sportier experience on the road than the Xtronic CVT® (Continuously Variable Transmission) of the Rogue. With the Xtronic CVT®, you’ll miss out on the sensation of the gears shifting, which will create a less engaging experience.

Equinox vs Rogue: Designed With Safety in Mind

In order to make sure you’re as secure as possible, both SUVs are fully equipped with unique safety features. You’ll find a standard Automatic Emergency Braking system aboard both the Chevy Equinox and the Nissan Rogue. You can count on your vehicle to look out for you by braking automatically in case of a possible collision.

In order to provide efficient information of where possible accidents may be occurring, only the Chevy Equinox is designed with an available Safety Alert Seat. This feature uses seat bottom pulses to alert you of possible accidents, so you’re always informed without the use of audible alerts.

In order to help you settle in on those colder days, the Chevy Equinox and Nissan Rogue offer available heated seats. Turn this feature on and your SUV will warm up your seats to help ease your chattering teeth.

For when you’re vacationing in the summer, the Chevy Equinox has you taken care of with its available ventilated front seating. This system blows cool air through your front seats, so you can settle down while traveling on extra hot days. The Rogue doesn’t offer such a feature.

Should I Buy the Chevy Equinox or the Nissan Rogue?

With so much utility at your disposal, it’s no wonder why the Chevy Equinox and Nissan Rogue are such popular vehicles in the Indianapolis, Fishers, and Speedway, Indiana, areas. However, with the extra engine power of the Equinox, we feel it has an edge over the Rogue.
