What is OnStar?

We hope you know that you can find OnStar on nearly every new vehicle at your Indianapolis area Chevy dealer, but just what is OnStar? With just the push of a button, you can be directly connected to a live OnStar representative who can help you with directions, finding somewhere nearby to eat, or requesting emergency services. More than just a concierge service, it also handles vehicle safety and security—you can even receive WiFi through OnStar—and we are proud to say this state-of-the-art technology is on nearly all of our new models.

OnStar Services

Emergency: Your OnStar system can automatically notify the authorities when the airbags have been deployed or when you have been in an accident, and the “emergency services” button puts you in direct contact with an OnStar advisor who can send emergency help your way as soon as possible.

Security: OnStar is one of the best ways to protect against stolen vehicles, featuring remote ignition locking and a stolen vehicle slowdown feature that prevents thieves from getting far with your OnStar-enabled car.

Navigation: Receive turn-by-turn navigation as well as having destinations downloaded right into your infotainment system to direct you where you need to go. OnStar eNav even lets you plan out your vacations ahead of time and have your directions sent straight to your vehicle.

Connections: Many new Chevy models come with 4G LTE connectivity that lets you sync up your devices via WiFi for the hottest mobile hotspot around. Of course, there’s also handsfree calling, OnStar AtYourService concierge, and the RemoteLink mobile app.

Diagnostics: Is something wrong with your car? Do you regularly forget your routine maintenance? OnStar can run diagnostics to see if anything is wrong with your vehicle and remind you to visit a Chevy dealer near Indianapolis for your regular maintenance needs.

The OnStar App

The new OnStar RemoteLink app gives you the convenience of OnStar right from your smartphone. Available on the iOS store and the Google Play store (as well as select Blackberry and Windows phones), the app was streamlined to give you easy access to your OnStar features, even letting you use your smartphone as a keyfob to unlock your car. How often are you already holding your smartphone in your hand when heading toward your car? Now there’s no need to go digging for your keys.

As with the regular OnStar diagnostics, the RemoteLink app lets you look up vehicle statistics and schedule your routine maintenance so you never miss an oil change or tire rotation.

How Much Does OnStar Cost?
