Rich Local History
The founding of the Haan Museum of Indiana Art began at the 1904 St. Louis World’s Fair, when it was built as the Connecticut State Building. This building was eventually moved to Lafayette, Indiana, where it has remained ever since.
The building was used as a residence for years, until Bob and Ellie Haan acquired the mansion in 1984. After years of being used as a home, it was eventually converted into a museum in 2013. Today, it exhibits local art inside a historic and beautifully restored building, where you can enjoy some of the incredible history of the Indiana area.
Beautiful Property, Extensive Collections
One of the first things you’ll notice when you set foot on the property of the Haan Museum of Indiana Art is its beauty. The property of the mansion offers a scenic sculpture garden and various hiking paths and bike trails. This is a fantastic way to spend a summer afternoon, soaking in beautiful local sculptures and scenic natural beauty.
Inside the mansion, you’ll also find a large collection of local art in a range of mediums. There many rooms featuring historic paintings brought to you by many different artists. You’ll also enjoy multiple collections featuring Indiana ceramics and furniture. The furniture collections even include exhibits on music boxes and clocks.
