Chevy Tahoe Towing Capacity
The Chevy Tahoe is a true adventure SUV. Whether you’re loading it full of cargo or loading it full of seven passengers, you should have plenty of room to spare.
Speaking of cargo, Indianapolis, Fishers, and Carmel drivers should appreciate the major towing capacity of the Chevy Tahoe. Read this review by the Andy Mohr Speedway Chevrolet team to learn more about it.
HOW MUCH CAN THE CHEVY TAHOE TOW?
The standard Chevy Tahoe is capable of hauling 6,600 pounds of cargo. However, if you add in the available Max Trailering Package, that towing capacity is boosted to 8,600 pounds.
That’s a pretty substantial towing capacity, and one that should be able to satisfy your wanderlust. In addition to hauling a trailer with added cargo or equipment, you could tow a boat or even a small camper, which will really come in handy on your next road trip!
THE TAHOE POWERTRAIN
How does the Chevy Tahoe achieve this towing capacity, you may be wondering? A big part of it is the standard powertrain.
The Tahoe comes with a 5.3L ECOTEC® V8 engine. With all those cylinders under the hood, your SUV can produce as much as 355 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque.
A SMOOTHER SUV RIDE
With great power comes great handling responsibilities. In order to keep all those horses under control, you need a smooth-riding chassis enhanced with suspension reinforcements.
The Chevy Tahoe is naturally smoother thanks to its Premium Smooth Ride Suspension—a feature made even better by available Magnetic Ride Control™. This system will help your SUV cruise over bumps and potholes and through turns without incurring wear.
Add in the available 4-wheel drive system to this package, and you’ll have added stability and traction controls on top of your smooth-riding suspension.
ADDITIONAL CARGO CAPABILITIES
If you’re using the Tahoe towing capacity to pull a camper or a boat, you’re still going to need extra room for all your luggage. Fortunately, the Tahoe has some additional cargo capabilities that will really come in handy.
First and foremost, there’s plenty of space in the back of the vehicle for your bags. Behind the third row, there’s 15.3 cubic feet. Fold over the second row and you’ll have 51.7 cubic feet of room. However, with all rear seating stowed away, you’ll have 94.7 cubic feet of cargo room to make use of. \
It’s easy to get in and out of the back of your vehicle with the available hands-free gesture liftgate equipped. Open up the back with just a wave of your hands.
If you have some leftover bags after all that, be sure to use the roof-mounted luggage rack side rails. They come standard with your Tahoe, too!
