Chevy Cruze Performance

The model is available as either the Cruze hatchback or sedan. Both are capable of getting you and your crew around town or out on the road for your next trip with great fuel economy. There are two options when choosing which efficient engine you can have under the hood. Both were designed with Emissions Control Optimization Technology (ECOTEC®).

The first choice is a 1.4L ECOTEC® 4-cylinder turbocharged engine that gets up to a sporty 153 horsepower and 177 lb-ft of torque. It’s designed to maximize power and get more efficient production with Continuously Variable Valve Timing.

In both the hatchback and sedan this engine can work with either a 6-speed manual or automatic transmission. With the hatchback you’ll be able to get up to an EPA-estimated 29 MPG city and 38 MPG highway.

If you prefer the sedan you’ll still get the same performance in the city, but with longer drives you’ll be able to get up to an EPA-estimated 40 MPG highway.

The second engine is a unique 1.6L ECOTEC® 4-cylinder Turbo Diesel engine that gets 137 horsepower and 240 lb-ft of torque. It can also run in either body type and works with either a 6-speed manual or versatile 9-speed automatic transmission.

In the hatchback you’ll find this diesel engine getting up to an EPA-estimated 30 MPG city and 48 MPG highway. The sedan features an even more efficient performance with 31 MPG city and up to 52 MPG highway.

Chevy Cruze Capability

With that kind of reliable performance, both body styles of the 2018 Chevy Cruze are more than capable to help you get to your destination with fewer stops for gas. With excellent MPG ratings and large fuel tanks, both the hatchback and sedan can go a long distance in between stops.

The 1.6L diesel engine has a fuel tank that can hold up to 13.5 gallons, while the 1.4L engine has a slightly larger one at 13.7 gallons. This enables each one to have an impressive cruising range.

With both engines, if you’re taking the hatchback out on the road you’ll be able to cover approximately 405 miles of city driving. The gasoline engine has a highway cruising range of up to 608 miles, while the diesel option lets you cruise on the highway for up to 648 miles.

There’s some differences in the sedan as well. With the standard you get a cruising range of 370 city miles and 548 highway miles. The diesel engine lets you go even further with a 418- city and 702-mile highway cruising range.
