Engine Specs & Performance Features
To get started, we’ll check out what powers the Equinox.
The standard 1.5L Turbo 4-cylinder engine puts out 170 horsepower and 203 lb-ft of torque capability. This is paired with the standard 6-speed automatic transmission, which is an electronically controlled transmission with overdrive and Driver Shift Control, for smooth and effortless shifting and an easy-to-handle ride.
A front-wheel drivetrain comes standard, but for more advanced stability and traction control be sure to ask about the available all-wheel drive system. This is ideal for Indiana’s snowy and icy winter commutes.
Innovative Safety Features
With all that power, you’re going to need a plethora of advanced safety features. Luckily, the 2021 Equinox comes equipped with the standard Chevy Safety Assist system, which includes five innovative driver-assistant safety features designed to be your partner on the road ahead.
- Standard Following Distance Indicator
The Following Distance Indicator displays your following time gap in increments of seconds between you and the vehicle ahead of you, so you don’t have to worry if you’re getting too close.
- Standard Forward Collision Alert & Automatic Emergency Braking
This feature helps you avoid or mitigate frontal collisions by alerting you when it senses you rapidly approaching another vehicle. In the event of an emergency, it can even apply braking pressure to prevent or reduce the severity of the impact.
- Standard Intellibeam® Auto High Beam Assist
You’ll have improved visibility when traveling at night with the Intellibeam® Auto High Beam Assist feature. It will automatically toggle between low and high beams depending on your surroundings.
- Standard Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning
You’ll stay securely in the center of your lane thanks to this feature, as it will alert you when it senses you drifting. It can also apply small steering wheel corrections.
- Standard Front Pedestrian Braking
This feature activates when you’re traveling at speeds of 50 MPH or under and will warn you if a pedestrian is entering your path, as well as engage the breaks.
